Nothing to say
Lyrics and music R.G.Theil, 1984

It was a bright and beautiful morning,
with the promise of summer to come,
a blue and white laced morning sky,
hung over the rays of the sun.
I saw young girls dancing tasting the warmth,
and the illusion of a perfect world,
till the death dealing stuttering burst from a gun
took the breath from the life of someone

And the newshounds scurried to the scene of the crime
and the sirens wailed to the tune
of the hot wire tapping out an urgent flash,
to the centres of the waiting world.
And the warm spring air of a traffic jam,
took on a different taste
ah another butcher, a disciple of hate,
sends a chill through the head and the heart.

chorus
Don’t give justifications
cause I know expediency rules
Don’t give me excuses
cause I know you have nothing to say

Ah another time another place,
through the past the echoes sound,
fragments of hope littered across the streets,
as the paths of our cultures met.
Bodies strewn in the endless waste,
of the righteous hands of fate,
as points of law and ideals insane,
forged the ways of the modern world.

chorus

Ah another murder another death,
depending on the stand you take,
couched in the language of diplomacy,
veering to the right or the left,
sleeping in the shadow of uncertainty,
with our missiles glinting in the sun,
as the growing sense of our extinction looms,
at the hands of our chosen ones.
